Date: 2006 Overview: Canada faces significant labour market challenges arising from the country’s aging demographic. The issue changes character from one region and one industry sector to another, but it has a growing resonance among Canadian business and labour leaders from coast to coast. The co-chairs of the Workplace Partners Panel in 2006 were Perrin Beatty, President of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters and Ken Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress. Under their leadership, the Workplace Partners Panel formed regional task forces, comprised of senior business and labour leaders, to consider the challenges and possible courses of action. As Director of Strategic Communications for the Canadian Labour and Business Centre, Tim Woods played a leadership role in the design, management and execution of the Workplace Partners Panel project. Two task forces were struck in the spring of 2006, that Atlantic Canada Task Force and the Saskatchewan Task Force. Key elements in the work of the task force included:
